Inertia

After the initial conquest and setting up the tabernacle, there remain seven tribes who had not yet claimed their inheritance in the Promised Land (Josh 18:2-3). It seems incredible to me that after forty years of wandering in the wilderness 7 out of twelve were not motivated to do the work of establishing a home. “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.” The issue was leadership. They could not overcome their inertia until Joshua confronted and challenged them to get moving.
